¢urrently sonic: Come Down - Tiago Rump [Suzilla RMX]

My Portuguese isn’t so excellent, but I know enough to spot that the homie [Brazilian Producer/MC] Tiago Rump’s Sincronicidade EP is making the papers in São Paulo. I mentioned Tiago’s Black Phoenix Beattape back in September. At the time he showed a lot of love to my World Excerpts EP, and even mentioned me as an influence…truly  a big first for me. Since then, he’s self-released the Sincronicidade EP digitally for free download, with physical copies available locally.

The term Sincronicidade is Portuguese for synchronicity. This concept for Tiago’s album explains the commonalities he finds the future of music production, and how so many artists across the world today are on the same musical vibration. His sound takes many cues from hip-hop, acoustic, and beat music to make one distinct vibration of his own.

As a testament to that concept, Tiago and I collaborated for the EP as a bonus track, a remix to his original Come Down, one of my favorites on the record. Many of the vocal tracks are performed in Portuguese, but the production and love of music are felt within each track…making it universal in my opinion.
